Feasibility Study for Absheron Wind Farm Projects with Photovoltaic Component

Azerbaijan founded the "State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources - ABEMDA" (later AREA) to improve the conditions for investments in new generation capacities. KfW provided a loan for the implementation of a "flagship" renewable investment project - the Absheron Wind Farm. The scope of the study was later extended to include also the integration of PV components. The project prepared feasibility studies for two potential sites.

Technical Data
  • Xixi site: 21 wind turbine generators (WTGs) of 3.3 MW each; 35 kV infield connection; 10 MW PV generation; new 110 kV single-circuit line (15 km) up to an existing 330/220/110 kV substation 
  • Qaradag: 16 WTGs of 3.3 MW each, 35 kV loop infield connection; 10 MW PV generation; new 110/35 kV substation, new 110 kV double-circuit OHL of 10 km length
