Germany:
Engineering Services for the Hybrid Grid Connection (380 and 110 kV) of the new "Niehl 3" Combined Cycle Power Plant, Cologne

The new combined cycle power plant "Niehl 3" with a capacity of 450 MWel and 265 MWth required the construction of a new grid connection at the power plant site in Cologne Niehl. This grid connection is designed as hybrid connection, so that electricity can be fed on the 380 kV level into the grid of the transmission grid operator Amprion GmbH as well as into the own distribution grid of RheinEnergie AG. The special feature here is the use of a transverse control transformer, which enables controlled feed-in into RheinEnergie's own 110 kV grid. The new combined cycle power plant "Niehl 3" with a capacity of 450 MWel and 265 MWth required the construction of a new grid connection at the power plant site in Cologne Niehl.
